Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard began her career in the commercial seafood industry in the year 1999. At the time she was employed in Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut vessel, transformed into a fish tender. Bossard has married Aritan. The couple has come together and have claimed the respective businesses. They both believe in conservation as well as profiting from renewable resources in the seafood industry. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood that was started in Philadelphia in 2007, by a woman who is now the mother of two kids, Bella aged 3, and Andre one year old. The couple is separated by 5 months plus more to allow her to be focused on her financial goals and the environment. Since July of 2016, Bossard as well as her daughters Isabella aged 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer for deckhand work throughout the summer wild salmon harvest. Hooks and lines are used to collect their fish, and then join Aritan for local processors for 2 months. Then they continue to expand their direct seafood product market through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
